Petalfrog’s #CBR4 Review #19: While the Savage Sleeps by Andrew Kaufman

I decided to get this book after reading The Lion, The Lamb, and The Hunted, by the same author and enjoying it quite a bit. This book is also listed as:
#1 Bestseller, While the Savage Sleeps, Tops SEVEN of Amazon’s Top-Rated Lists:

#1 Horror
#1 Occult Horror
#1 Fiction/General
#1 Mystery and Thrillers
#1 Suspense Thrillers
#1 Thriller
#4 Overall Genre fiction

How could I not be excited and willing to read this? Totally up my alley I figured. OH MY WORD. This book was so bad that I could not even finish it. I was 75% the way through on my Kindle after nearly 5 days, and I just I decided to stop, and maybe I’ll go back to it, but truthfully I believe I have read enough to write a review located right here!!!

Petalfrog’s #CBR4 Review #17: The Lion, the Lamb, the Hunted: A Psychological Thriller by Andrew Kaufman

The most glaring thing about this book was that the story itself in no way matches the cheesy, but creepy, cover. The cover suggests a book that will be dark and a little f-ed up, but alas this was not to be. This book is ultimately a straightforward mystery thriller that I’ll probably have forgotten about in a few days.

Patrick Bannister is a 30-something year old reporter with some serious OCD issues. While attending his mother’s funeral he discovers a box of her stuff with some peculiar items in them. With a little investigating he realizes the items seem to be related somehow to the kidnapping of a 3 year old Texan boy in the ’70s. He decides to investigate this further to try and figure out how his mother and (state senator) uncle could have been involved in the boy’s disappearance.

Patrick heads off to small-town Texas and joins forces with a local reporter, CJ. They soon discover that someone is trying to cover up the disappearance and will go to any lengths to do so. Patrick and CJ find themselves pitted against this unknown person as they fight to solve the mystery AND stay alive.
